Planning the compressor room early in building design avoids costly retrofits. Ventilation, noise and service access are best decided at the layout stage.
Locate for Cooling Airflow
Place the machine where intake air is cool and clean, with clear space around the cooler for hot air to escape.
Manage Noise
Use a separate plant room with acoustic treatment, or select low-noise machines with sound enclosures for occupied areas.
Plan Service Access
Leave clearance around doors and panels so filters, oil and elements can be serviced without removing other equipment.
Duct the Discharge Heat
In winter, recovered heat can warm the building; in summer, duct it outside to reduce cooling load.
